Dallmeier Domera 6900: New 12MP Dome Cameras with AI Analytics

Dallmeier expands the Domera series with 12MP cameras featuring AI video analytics and support for IEC 62676-4:2025 for enhanced image quality.

What happened?

Dallmeier has expanded its Domera camera line with the new 6900 series. The new models offer a resolution of up to 12 megapixels and improved light sensitivity, further enhancing image quality compared to previous Domera models. The higher resolution is also intended to help meet the increased pixel density requirements set out in the IEC 62676-4:2025 standard. The new series comprises two models: the RDF6900DN, a Remote Positioning Dome (RPoD), and the SDF6900DN, a fisheye camera with 360° panoramic view.

The details

Both new camera models are based on the proven Domera platform, combining the higher resolution with familiar benefits such as flexible mounting options, on-camera AI-based video analytics, and long-term software maintenance.

RDF6900DN: Remotely controllable positioning

The RDF6900DN uses Remote Positioning Dome (RPoD) technology. The motorized three-axis adjustment allows the camera to be conveniently aligned over the network after installation. Zoom, focus, and aperture of the motor-driven varifocal lens can also be adjusted remotely. According to the manufacturer, this reduces the effort involved in commissioning and servicing, and simplifies later adjustments when requirements or the areas to be monitored change.

SDF6900DN: 360-degree overview via fisheye

The SDF6900DN is aimed at applications where the largest possible area needs to be monitored with just one camera. Its stereographic fisheye lens, specifically matched to the image sensor, captures a horizontal field of view of 360° and reduces distortion at the edges. Motorized fine positioning of the image sensor via the network makes it easier to precisely adapt the camera to the respective scene.

On-camera AI video analytics

Both models feature deep AI object classification and support EdgeAnalytics AI apps directly on the camera. This allows people and vehicles to be reliably classified and evaluated for various applications. These include detecting line crossings, intrusion into defined areas, and counting people and vehicles. The resulting events and data are then available for targeted evaluation using Dallmeier's client software.

Mounting and software maintenance

The 6900 series also relies on Dallmeier's variable Domera mounting system. Various in-ceiling, surface, and wall mounting variants can be implemented using coordinated components, which is intended to simplify planning, stock-keeping, and installation for installers. Like all Dallmeier single-sensor cameras, the new 6900 series includes five years of software maintenance, which can optionally be extended to a total of ten years.

Context

The introduction of the Domera 6900 series comes at a time when requirements for video surveillance systems are increasing due to updated standards such as IEC 62676-4:2025. For operators of security systems, higher pixel density requirements mean that older camera systems may no longer be sufficient to deliver footage that complies with the standard. With a resolution of 12 MP, Dallmeier positions the new series as a response to these increased technical specifications.

At the same time, the integration of AI video analytics directly on the camera reflects an industry-wide trend: analytics functions are increasingly moving from central servers to the edge of the network, which can reduce latency and lower server load in larger installations.

Practical tips

  • Operators of security systems should check whether existing camera systems still meet the pixel density requirements of IEC 62676-4:2025.
  • For properties with large surveillance areas, the fisheye variant SDF6900DN with its 360° field of view can reduce the need for multiple individual cameras.
  • The remote positioning capability of the RDF6900DN facilitates adjustments after initial installation, for example when field-of-view requirements change during operation.
  • Installers benefit from the uniform Domera mounting system, which simplifies stock-keeping of different mounting variants.
  • The optional extension of software maintenance to ten years can be factored into long-term investment planning.

Outlook

With the Domera 6900 series, Dallmeier is expanding its portfolio with models that respond to rising regulatory requirements as well as the growing demand for AI-supported video analytics. Compatibility with IEC 62676-4:2025 is likely to become increasingly important for operators of security infrastructure in the coming years, as standards increasingly call for higher resolutions to ensure reliable evidence gathering and person recognition. It remains to be seen how the series establishes itself in practice among installers and operators, and whether further models with similar features will follow.
