Basically, between purely mechanical safe locks
and electronic locks for deposit safes.
There are still small but fine differences between them.
Here is a brief overview of the most common lock variants for deposit safes.
Key lock:
- Key lock, four-eyes principle.
- Electronic pin code lock.
- Electronic Fingerscan / FingerPrint lock.
- Combination of electronic and mechanical lock.
- The key lock.
- (You open and close your deposit safe with a double-bit key)
Advantages:
- You do not need to remember a pin code to open the deposit safe.
- It is not possible to "spy out" the code because you use a key.
- It is not possible for authorised persons to pass on the pin code to unauthorised persons.
- Full control over the persons who have access.
- No battery change necessary.
Cons:
- You have an additional key on your key ring.
- Each additional person who is to have access requires a separate key, which must be specially made.
- If a key is lost, the lock must be replaced.
Key lock in 4-eyes principle:
Opening the deposit safe is only possible by simultaneously locking 2 different safe locks and 2 different keys.
Advantages:
- the opening of the safe is ONLY possible by 2 authorized persons
- You do not have to remember a pin code to open the deposit safe.
- Spying out" the code is not possible.
- Passing on of the pin code by authorized to unauthorized impossible.
- Full control over the persons who have access.
- No battery change necessary.
Disadvantages:
- You have an extra key on your key chain.
- Each additional person who is to have access requires a separate key, which must be specially made.
- If a key is lost, the lock must be replaced.
- Electronic pin code lock.
- You open and close your deposit safe with a pin code.
- No key is necessary.
Advantages:
- No additional key on the key ring.
- In case of staff change, simple code change.
- No key loss.
- Unlimited number of authorised persons.
Disadvantages:
- Easy to pass the pin code to unauthorized persons.
- The "spying out" of the pin code by third parties.
- Battery change necessary.
- Another Pin-Code / Password, which you have to remember.
- Electronic fingerscan lock.
- You open and close your deposit safe with your fingerprint and usually there is also the possibility to open the deposit safe with a pin code.
Advantages
- No additional key on the key ring.
- You do not need to remember an additional pin code.
- "Spying out" the pin code is not possible.
- (using finger scan)
- In case of change of employees, simply delete the finger from the system.
- No key loss.
Disadvantages:
- Battery replacement required.
- Only a limited number of authorized persons possible .
- The heavy strain on the hands (craftsmen, bakers etc.) can cause problems reading the fingerprint and access can be denied
- Combination of mechanical and electronic safe lock.
- This is also a deposit safe with a lock in the 4-eye principle.
- The safe is opened by a key lock and an electronic lock.
- These safe locks are generally only used where it is mandatory.
